श्री गंगा असंख्य सद्गुणों का अनन्त मनोरम प्रवाह है। स्वर्ग लोक से भगवान विष्णु के चरणों से महादेव शिव जी के शीष में अवतरित होकर हिमालय से गंगा सागर तक का प्रवाह ज्ञान का प्रवाह है, आनन्द का प्रवाह है, सत्व का प्रवाह है और जीवन्त चेतना का प्रवाह है। पतित पावनी गंगा रोग, शोक, संताप, दारिद्र, ताप, पाप, आलस्य, उद्वेग, चिन्ता, अज्ञान और माया के तिमिर की शमनकारिणी हैं।
गंगा तट पर निवास बैकुण्ठ निवास के सदृश्य माना गया है। गंगा जल सर्वगुणकारी होने के कारण अमृत तुल्य है। अपने निर्मल पावन प्रवाह की तरह ही गंगा चेतना और वाणी को निर्मल और शुध्द करने वाली हैं, आयुवर्धनी हैं, नवचेतना और नव जीवनदायी हैं।
श्री गंगा स्नान से तथा गंगाजी के सहस्रनामों -सहस्र गुणों और स्तोत्रों का पाठ अथवा श्रवण करने से जीवन में उनके समस्त महिमाकारी गुणों का जागरण होता है और मनोवांछित फल की प्राप्ति होती है।
Shri Ganga is eternal flow of innumerable qualities of life. Ganga, passing through the lotus feet of Lord Vishnu, descends to the matted locks of Lord Shiva, and from there she flows to Ganga Sagar, it is the flow of knowledge, flow of bliss, flow of coherent and vibrant life.
Ganga is adored for her amazing qualities especially for eliminating all sins, suffering, diseases, sorrow, anxiety, fatigue, inactivity and darkness of ignorance. Living on the bank of Ganga is considered to be like living in Heaven.
Having infinite number of life supporting qualities, Gangajal (water of Ganga) is compared with the nectar. With Ganga pious and innocent nature of flow, human consciousness, behaviour, speech and being also get transformed and become pure and innocent. One attains higher states of consciousness and an enlightened life.
By taking a dip in Ganga and listening to or chanting Ganga Sahasranam and stotras of Ganga, all beautiful qualities of life get enlivened and all desires get fulfilled.
